The Egyptian
World premiere of the Symphony for Large Orchestra and Chorus, by Hermann Nitsch
On July 4 and 5, Hermann Nitsch’s Symphony for Large Orchestra and Chorus, “The Egyptian”, will be performed by the European Philharmonic Orchestra, the A capella Chor Weinviertel and the Municipal Band of Mistelbach, conducted by Peter Jan Marthé. The concept of the composition, which naturally enforces “Dionysian” ecstasy, will also contain the “Apollonian” resonance of more quiet passages – sounds, notes and noises – as well as frequencies that can be perceived subconsciously, exploring a Nirvana of silence behind the swell of sounds. Intensifying sound colors and the serenity of infinitely wide soundscapes allow the deep impression of Ikhnaton and the expressive richness of the Egyptian mythological adventure to captivate the audience of Hermann Nitsch’s monumental composition.
